How do we continue to make Oregon a great place to live and work?

That is the challenge legislators and Oregonians face everyday, especially as we struggle through the remnants of this global recession. Quality of life is absolutely essential for our economic future.  Oregon must be a place where people want to raise families. Our communities must be safe and provide the right opportunities for our children to grow and learn.

Our children are the greatest investment in the future of Oregon. We must ensure they receive an outstanding education regardless of our economic health. Whether we’re in an economic boom or bust, we need to fully fund a quality education system that provides the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in tomorrow’s economy; every school district, whether large, small, urban or rural.  All our children deserve the same great public education regardless of where they live. 

We need to make smart investments now to form the economy of tomorrow, driving sustainable growth, encouraging innovation and helping small businesses grow and thrive in a new economy.

1. •We must ensure that all Oregonians have access to effective and affordable healthcare so that they may live productive lives.
   

1. •We must build the next-century infrastructure necessary for future economic growth and promote family wage jobs that give people the resources they need to thrive in our community.
   

1. •We must ensure that people who are currently in the workforce have the training they need to succeed in the rapidly changing economy and job sector.
   

1. •We must protect old growth forests, family farms, and the quality of our air and water.
   

As a native Oregonian, I care deeply about these issues and I’m working hard to pass legislation that will accomplish these goals. In recent legislative sessions I worked hard on all of these important issues. There’s still more work to be done I look forward to meeting the challenges ahead with innovative solutions and true leadership from the perspective of a working Oregonian.
